We are Approved!

Hi friends, I am sorry it has been so long since I have done a blog post. We have been waiting for news from our agency that everything is done and approved, and today we got the email we have been waiting for. Everything came back and we are OFFICIALLY APPROVED!!!! You may wonder what this means. In short, it means we are cleared and ready to begin the matching process. To say we are thrilled is an understatement.

Next up, the waiting game… we wait to be matched with a birth mother. The situation has to be right for both parties and a lot of time and thought goes into this part of the process. Our agency will be looking for situations that meet both the birth mothers requests for the adoptive family as well as the criteria we are looking for in a birth mother and our baby. Once we find a birth mother we are interested in, we will submit our profile and she will decide out of the profiles she receives who she will pick to parent her child. If she picks our profile it is considered a “match”. At this point, we will have a phone conversation with the birth parents and if everything feels right, we will wait for her to deliver our baby. Occasionally during the matching process, they will need a Utah family on out of state adoptions or situations that come up quickly, so there is a chance we could get a call and things would move very fast. The hardest part of this process aside from the waiting is all of the unknowns. We have no idea what situations will be presented, or if we will have to travel or stay local, and the hardest part is not knowing how long we will have to wait. In a way, the unknowns make this all very exciting!

We made the decision this week to put our profile with two different adoption agencies. There is no upfront fee to do this and really it only benefits us. We felt like this might help speed up getting a match. We will have two different agencies helping us look and find our potential birth mother. Whichever one finds the right situation first is who we will end up going with. Both agencies have been wonderful to work with and we know no matter which agency we go with it will all work out great.

Becoming approved is a huge hurdle in the overall process and we are so happy to officially be looking for our baby. It almost feels surreal. If we can ask one thing, it would be to have your continued love, support, and prayers during as we navigate through this process. The waiting game can be difficult, especially for two very impatient people. We have been so blessed by your unwavering support to this point and we can feel your prayers on our behalf. We would also ask your prayers for these amazing birth mothers. They are faced with such a difficult decision and although we don’t have our specific birth mother yet I know all of them are experiencing pain, confusion, and need to feel guidance and peace. These women are nothing short of amazing and are doing such a selfless act and blessing the lives of others. Please pray for these women and keep them in your thoughts, I know they will feel our prayers. We are hopeful that everything will move quickly and go smoothly as we wait to be matched. We are anxious and excited to be able to witness God’s hand in this and help us find the baby he knows is for us. We will keep you posted as situations become available and when we are officially matched.

Again we thank you for following along with us on this journey, and for all the love and support you continue to show us.  You have touched our lives and made our journey so incredible. I hope we have news for you soon, and we have a match. Fingers crossed!
